Abstract
Cuwabo (P34) is a Bantu language spoken by more than 800,000 people in the north-eastern part of Mozambique. This chapter is a grammatical sketch of “central Cuwabo,” i.e., the variety spoken in the district of Quelimane. It provides a general overview of the language’s linguistic features. The main areas covered are phonology, morphology and syntax, illustrated with a large number of examples. This description is based on original fieldwork data, collected over the course of three years (2011–2013).
