Abstract
The Korean Intangible Cultural Property system and its applicability to music, contrasting likely scenarios of what would have happened without a state-organised preservation system, and outlining social, dynamic, and cultural changes that have occurred around some of the musical genres appointed as Intangible Cultural Properties.
