Abstract
Journal of an excursion to Syria and Palestine by the noted botanist Joseph Dalton Hooker to investigate the cedars of Lebanon and other flora of the area. Observations on the architecture, agriculture and ethnic composition of the area and on the recent troubles between Christians, Muslims and Druze. Contains indexes, maps and sixty three contemporary water colours.
