Abstract

This paper examines South East Asian film and cinema studies at SOAS, and in the wider context of the academic study of world cinema in UK universities. The paper looks at the role of SOAS Library in supporting South East Asian film studies, particularly with reference to acquiring DVDs and VCDs of South East Asian film. SOAS Library holds several hundred South East Asian films, primarily from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
