Abstract
Dalam konteks pascakolonial, pemulangan benda cagar budaya seringkali dikaitkan dengan penguatan identitas budaya dan nasional dari masyarakat bekas wilayah jajahan. Dengan fokus utama pada kehidupan sebuah objek yaitu arca Prajñāpāramitā, makalah ini membahas bagaimana pemulangan atau repatriasi berkontribusi pada pergeseran nilai dan makna objek cagar budaya melalui analisis terhadap beragam nilai yang dikaitkan dengan benda cagar budaya tersebut dan kondisi sosial-politik secara umum. Diawali dengan gambaran singkat tentang sejarah koleksi dan representasi arca Prajñāpāramitā pada masa kolonial, dilanjutkan dengan tinjauan bagaimana patung tersebut dipamerkan baik setelah dipulangkan kembali ke Indonesia oleh Belanda pada tahun 1970-an, ketika wacana tentang pemulangan benda cagar budaya hangat diperbincangkan, dan saat ini, kajian ini menganalisis bagaimana pemulangan benda cagar budaya berkontribusi tidak hanya dalam memperkuat identitas nasional tetapi juga dalam mempromosikan diplomasi budaya dan kerja sama internasional.
