Abstract
The international community has responded to the challenges posed by climate change and have constructed legal framework in the form of UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. India and the United States are positioned contrastingly regarding its developmental and economic concerns, historical and current contribution to global GHG emissions and vulnerability to climate change impacts. The engagement of both countries has been substantially fashioned by their domestic imperatives. The chapter analyses the evolution and crystallization of climate contestation and cooperation between India and the United States.
