Abstract
In December 1832, a contingent of American Baptist misisonaries, including Reverend Nathan Brown, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Webb, and Mrs. Webb, departed from Boston to join missionaries already at work in Burma. Five months later, they had only gone as far as Calcutta, from whence they would commence their final sea journey to British Tenasserim and it is from this point that correspondence from Nathan Brown begins. The following letters, sometimes in full and occasionally as extracts, were originally published in the American Baptist Missionary Magazine during the 1830s.
