Abstract

A discussion of North Korea's 'improved' musical instruments, developed from traditional Korean instruments, but adapted with an eye to the versatility of Western orchestral equivalent instruments. Historical and contemporary dimensions, manufacturing details, and information on compositions and arrangements made for each of the instruments discussed.
